A WEEK IN TULUM from an iPhone
THE BALANCE OF VACATION
In theory, vacation should be relaxing but i’ll be the first to say transitioning from work-mom-blogger mode to vacation mode doesn’t exactly come easy.
That is why during a week to Tulum with my husband Caleb, we made the conscious decision to stay present in the moment with limited social presence.
It was everything we needed and more. Here were some of our favorite spots, all shot from my iPhone.
Kai Tulum Staying at Kai Tulum was one of the best decisions of our trip. The location of the property was on the main road yet had direct access to one of the most beautiful beaches. The villa itself was not only spacious but extremely private. The shower was one of my favorite details with a skylight and surrounded by plants to feel as if you’re outside. Pro Tip: A lot of the hotels in Tulum do not have air conditioning but if you visit in the hotter months like we did, it’s such a benefit to have.
Cenotes The beaches in Tulum are absolutely gorgeous but the cenotes are a one-of-a-kind experience. With limestone and crisp blue waters, each cenote is different. Our favorites included the Gran Cenote which offered a balance of open air and cave and Casa Cenote which was actually a mix of salt and fresh water because it connected to the ocean. During our week in Tulum, we spent each day visiting at least 1 cenote and we were never disappointed.Mayan Clay Massage The massage at the Mayan Clay Spa was one of my absolute favorite experiences. Surrounded by floor to ceiling windows looking over white sand and flora, you’re masseuse uses heated mayan clay instead of oil. At the end of the experience, they take you to open air showers where you rinse off in nature. Pro Tip: Request the newest build where you have 360 views of the surrounding forest.
